About tipi glamping

A tipi is a cone-shaped tent built around a frame of long poles, with a canvas cover stretched over the top. The tall, open shape gives you a roomy interior with a high centre, which is one reason a tipi feels so different from a standard tent or a dome. Glamping tipis keep that classic look and fit it out for comfort, usually with a proper bed, linen, rugs and lighting, and often a heater or wood fire for cooler nights.

What to expect

Most tipi stays sit on private land, in bushland, farmland or vineyards, so you get plenty of space and quiet. Beds and bedding are normally supplied. Bathrooms, kitchens and heating vary a lot from one tipi to the next, so check each listing to see what is included before you book.

Worth checking before you book

  • Heating and cooling, especially if you are travelling in winter or peak summer
  • Bathroom set-up: a private ensuite or shared amenities nearby
  • Cooking options: a kitchen, a camp kitchen or a barbecue
  • Pet and children policies, which differ from host to host
  • Access to the site, as some tipis are a short walk from where you park
